Hi Guys! My names Jamie and i'm from England, i'm 15 right now and into world war 2 since i was 4. I'm a World War 2 Collector and Reenactor, precisely US Stuff. I would love to make a Diorama of a WW2 Urban setting of the Rhinelands in the Late War. I lived in the area for a while so could probably re-create the settings rather realistically, just lacking the skill for now lol.
Any Advice, Suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Jamie
PS: This will be my first Diorama!

Hi Jamie, My first advice is to make it small, have a look at Claude Joachim's Clervaux thread for techniques but not for size Also for buildings do a search for blokhaus (Carlos Elias - his work is amazing.
We just had a Miniart Dio campaign(You can see the thread here and the photos here
We're also planning an Urban Warfare Campaign to start next March so maybe you'll join that with your second dio
Have a look in the features section also. There are lots of techniques such as using plaster, plasterboard, cork, etc have a good look around the site and through the Dio forum and if you have any specific questions just ask

Im doing my first dio atm too..and the advice I can give you is the same as Pat. Keep it small! Do something simple. A vehicle and a couple of figures to create a scene.
I started out making a waaaay too large dio base. I think my dio is 6 times smaller now from when I started out.

Hey Guys, Thanks alot for the advice so far. I suppose cutting down will help alot. I will start drawing out a plan soon (without measurements). I intend to make it quite an action scene but i'll explain that in my drawings (who stands where and what stands where.).
I intend to make the Edge of a town, so maybe a fence and a house in the centers, two half houses on two edges of one part of the diorama, roads between the 3 buildings and then a mudroad into a field on one side, and a main road into the village with a destroyed roadblock on the other...
Sound good so far?
