Hi All....
this the Academy Cv-9040b.....I must say that this is a little nice kit, details are ok but...(there's always a but) there's also a room for the improvement.
I've replaced with PE straps the moulded ones that are on the kit.I also replaced the mantlet over the main gun(I need to add the bolts over the bar that holds the mantlet over the main gun).
I've replaced the smoke discharger to depict them empty(I steel need to add the caps joined to the smoke cilinder by a steel wire)
Probably it's not necessary to replace all this items cause with the splinter camo all the details added are not much visible.
Turret is nearly done.Next step is the Hull.
Let me know what do you think
Ciro

Nice job!
If you want to, you could add a small piece of tarpaulin to the Y-frame that attaches the commanders hatch to the hinge. The tarp covers the rear half of the hatch between the Y-frame and goes all the way back to the cylinder that constitutes the hinge mechanism.
I am not sure however if this tarp is present on all vehicles, but I have seen it on several shots of B-version vehicles.
You could also add, if you like, a tiny hole to the main sight protective visor. It is there to enable the gunner to observe (with limited viewing angle) through the visor when it is closed. The hole is tiny, but visible, I think, in 1/35th scale.
Good luck with the rest!

thank you Erik!
ok for the little hole,I've noted it.....I've some difficult about the piece of tarpaulin to the Y-frame .I think I've undestand what you mean but in the walkaround (from primeportal)it isn't showed.Do you have pics or links to good and better walkaround?!?!
Oh man ,I really hope that some AM companies make a conv for 9040C,a cool model.I know that a guy just built it (afv modeller n°26 if I'm not wrong)
Cheers

I´ll have to check when I get home if I have any nice pics. The DToys coming detail kits contain a hatch with that tarp. So you could always look for pics of that set.
There is a photo-book on the CV90 on the way from the swedish armour historical association SPHF, but I guess you don´t want to wait that long
I know the guy who made that Strf 9040C. I´ve seen it up close, and it´s an extraordinarily piece of work!

oh sure I'll try to get the book,I want to to other CV90,it's a cool model.
I'll go to check dtoys,I've tried to get the set but I'm not able to found a shop that sells that article. The set also include a small pe set the allow us to correct the structure to transport extra tracks around the turret that,in Academy model is incorrect.
9040c of the article is a super build...maybe he will cast the item?!who know..
best regards

I realised I had some pictures of the CV90 on my work computer, so I made a little gallery during the lunch:
http://www.plasticwarfare.se/?p=565
There you can see the commanders hatch with the tarp I talked about.
The gallery is of a CV9040C, but I think it´s the same on B-versions too.

Got it!
thanks Erik...I've little question for you if I can....
I've some photos of 9040b in what I suppose to be a training, camouflage,on these IFV is made up of splinter scheme with the use of white.Do you know which colour covers the white paint? From some photos I can see black and a green...supposed to be the more dark green,so the light green should be the one covered in white.Opinion?!
Or is it a casual application?!?so colours are 4 and not 3....if you know this...let me know.
Thank you again for pics and replies

You are correct, the white covers the light green, and it is used during winter, when there is snow on the ground (which is pretty much guaranteed in some parts of Sweden, but not always present for more than a few days at a time in the south). When painted in splinter camouflage the Strf 90 uses three colours. Dark green, light green and black. Older vehicles, like the Strv 103, used four colours, the three former and small patches of brown. The brown colour was discontinued from use since it paled rather quickly and it really made little difference. When the four colour pattern was whitewashed, the light green and brown was painted over.
The white colour is water soluble, and wears off in the field and can be washed off. However, it doesn´t come off completely. I´ve seen vehicles in the summer that was still wearing faint marks of the whitewash.

Looking good so far.
One thing to correct, if it's not too late, is the front holder for the gun sleeve.
As you can see it should be mounted at about 45 degree angle.

Ciro my friend!
Very nice work, as usual! How would you rate this model? Is it "easy to build" or are there any steps that should be handled carefully?
Keep rolling,
All the best,
Andreas

I´m not Ciro, but maybe I can tell you about the kit a little bit.
It´s not at all difficult to build straight out of the box, and even out of the box the result will be quite nice. It took me a pair of evenings to glue it together, but painting the camouflage took longer, with all the masking and such.
A few pics on my OOTB build can be found here:
http://www.plasticwarfare.se/?p=502
I also wrote a review here:
http://www.plasticwarfare.se/?p=445
(since the gallery is also on the review-page, you can jump straight to the review page if you´re interested in the review)
best regards
Erik G

Hi guys....thank you for comments...later I'll try to post un update.I'm working on the hull right now.
Andreas....yes,it's a simple build,it has some good details here and there, there are also areas that can be improved with appropriate PE or by scratch.
Only a little amount of putty is required to fill the gap that you have with the construction of main gun.
Rear boxes of the turret aren't perfectly shaped so they don't fix correctly to the turret, they require a little work, nothing of complicated.Other details on turret are good.
About the turret it's a little step down respect a tamiya model take as reference(t-55 for example)but this is not so noticeable.
It costs a little here(35 euro more or less) but it works....here with this amount of cash you can buy a trumpy T-62(incorrect and with errors) or a CV9040B...choose you!
If you have more questions feel free to contact me..like all the others guy here.
Kindly regards
Ciro Riccio

Erik and Ciro,
thank you both for your comments! This vehicle really attracts me. Maybe I should get me one
Erik, very nice model! What I like most, is the contrast between the clean upper part and the dirty lower part of your model! Congrats!
All the best,
Andreas

Ok it's not much but I think I've complete the turret.(minus the smoke dischargers caps that I'll add at the end)
added tarp covers the rear half of the hatch between the Y-frame and the little hole to the main sight protective visor as pointed out by Erik....
Gun sleeve seems to be ok...so I don't need to turn it necessary, anyway it will not a problem.
Well....I'll post again at finished building before the paint.
and.....
my first love.....T-55 :-)
Regards and thank you for all the comments

Don´t forget the NBC ventilation opening on your T-55 turret. 1 o´clock position at the turret base.
