The wretched stuff is drying semi-gloss. I have stirred, shaken the bottle, everything but pour the paint in a blender. I brush it out nice and smooth but it dries with a semi-gloss finish not matte like it used to. I know it did. I have two helicopters painted with the stuff.
I can't get any advice here in Dallas apart from use Dullcote but I've had some bad experiences with it so I am a little gun shy. Added to which this is Trumpeter's LAV-25 with shocks and steering rods underneath so I know the spray will clog up.
By the way does anyone know how to get Humbrol to dry beyond being sticky. I tested some from a tin like I always do. It was shaken, stirred, etc and it would not dry after two days. I thought about dumping it but there has to be a solution. Supplies are somewhat difficult or impossible to get locally. We have NO hobby shops in Dallas worth the name.
HELP! PLEASE!

Steve,
Have you tried their Acryl line? Most, if not all, of their colors from the enamel line are available in acrylics. I switched over about 10 years ago, and have never looked back. The paints always dry fast, hard, and dead flat. Also, the clear flat they make works great as well.
That said, if you want to stay with enamels, and you get a gloss or semi-gloss, try overspraying with an acrylic clear flat to solve that problem.
Best of luck,
Rod

I did so with the 117 I used to repaint my LAV, and all went well. It was a nervous try after the Testors. Tonight it's 186 after I paint four of the wheels. I think the solution is exactly what you say in terms of stirring. I also shake it vigorously for 7 minutes.
