Any suggestions as far as
brand?
acryl vs enam?
primer?
...ect?
I don't really want a gloss finish at all, looking for a real flat light obsorbing color.

Hi JB and welcome to Armorama!
Most guys use acrylics nowadays, you don't always need a primer, and are you brush painting or airbrushing? It makes a difference in recommending paint brands.
In either case, you want Dunkelgrau, AKA Panzer Grey.

I use an enamel base coat(red oxide rattle can), followed by a heavy acrylic topcoat. The topcoat I have custom mixed at Home Depot, matched to German desert yellow. I have heard that you should only use acrylic last, but have not had any problems so far. I then airbrush using Model Master enamels(chocolate braun and Panzer Olivgrun.
