Hi Model Makers extraordinaire!
I'm about to paint some Verlinden resin liquor bottles as molotov cocktails.
I need advice on colors/techniques I can use to get the look of
a filled glass bottle.
I would truly appreciate any help you can provide.
Thanks

I've found dipping the bottles in paint up to the level you want, and on the angle you want it to rest at then finishing with a second clear or tinted clear paint to work well. Never tried a molotov (in model form at least, ha) but done many wine bottles this way, finishing with a clear green over red filling paint.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Hello,
I would use Acrylics. You can find transparent colours from Tamiya or Gunze Sangyo for example. You can mix these to get the desired colour and thin them with clear to get a lighter shade. Another possibility, if you use a clear bottle, is to drill a small hole into the bottle from the bottom and then paint it with a transparent colour from the inside. Looks very nice, but you have no possibility to achieve a special angle of the filling. So its only to be used to imitate filled bottles, which are standing upright.
Cheers
Dennis

You can produce your own clear paint by adding a few drops of food coloring or water-soluble ink to clear gloss acrylic.
