Can anyone tell me something about this kit? Good, bad, steer clear?
What era is it from? Korea? Vietnam?

TIA.

I've got the Modelcraft one, which has Blue Tank molded on the hull bottom. I believe it is the same one as the Nitto kit. The kit looks like a conglomerate of other kits. The hull looks like it is based on the M26/46 hull, possibly an M41 hull. The tracks look like Leopard tracks, only narrow. Box art shows track looking similar to the M41 track, as well as a molded on set of spart track blocks on the cab roof that look like M41 tracks. AMPS kit reviews say it can be built up nicely with parts from 2 M-24s and a set of M-24 tracks (might be the type hull too) and photoetch. Got mine from Squadron for $8.99. It has possibilities, especially if you have a turretless M-24 hanging around.

Directions say it was developed late during WW2 and did not see combat, but was used during the 50s and 60s, pulling artillery. The suspension comes with little springs to give it tension and it looks like it was motorized at one time.

Production version of the M8E2 tractor known as the M8A1 and M8A2. Allis Chalmers built 480 units of each type between 1950 and 1955. Shared components and engine with the M41.

Thank you sir! :-)

I saw it my local hobby store for only $10.59. I was hoping to get my hands on one of the "high speed tractors" from WWII.I lost on an ebay bid for the M4 18ton HST a little while ago. Still looking.

Check the one that Wim Vink built over at Mil-Mod.

It's under Construction Articles-M8E2/Skysweeper.
Looks like a whole lot of scratchbuilding.

Wow! Kinda makesyawant tohang upthe old spru cutters.
I wish I had the skill and patience to do that. I've got a Nitto M8A1 on the shelf, and now I'll probably put it off for another year.
