Left turret Dragon 105 kit 6354 (dark grey) Right turret Dragons earlier turret that came with the Easy 8 kit as a spare turret (light grey)
Which turret would most accuratly represent a late WWII 105 HVSS
I know the Dragon 105 kit mantlet is a "ch" too small
and the earlier dragon 105 mantlet that came with the easy 8 is correct in size
but it has the bump out for the range scope cover so that being said for a late war 105 should I use the 105 turret that came with the 105 kit and mate in the earlier manlet or use the earlier turret and mate it on the hull??
Or does any after market company sell the correct turret/mantlet?
Thanks
Wayne

I'd go with the new turret but using the mantlet from the old one as that was it's only failing. They got the original mantlet right but not the new one which is too narrow and it really is noticable

Neither one has the rear ventilator typical of 105 turrets.

They both do, but as seperate parts in the kit as they are in the Tamiya and Academy turrets.
This is a great comparison of the available (Kit) turrets:

There were no Shermans in production in late 1945. All the lines were shut down/corverted to other vehicles by mid-July.
The recontoured area around the TC hatch and the direct sight cover were both late production features. There is a good set of pictures here:

There are, I think, three different late tanks in Gary's various folders.
