I've built a couple, one was the fire Jeep (molded in red and black), but it is the same kit with an extra sprue of fire fighting equipment.
Decent build and a neat looking Jeep. It could benefit from a bit of photo etch. If you want to add some ordnance, pick up the Hogan's Heroes WW2 Jeep by AMT. It is in 1/24 scale as well and includes both a .50 cal and 106mm recoilless rifle.

G/day Ray,
Studio27 have just released a detailed etched set for the Hasegawa 1/24 Jeep.
This would probably fit your kit as well.
A review of the etched set is here:

It has civilian style tires and an engine. More like a car kit than military kit. It makes a Korean era Jeep (CJ2?). I've got the original instructions someone scanned for me. Some issues of this kit came with only four vinyl tires, but if you contact AMT/Ert/Racing Champions they will mail you a 5th tire (spare). Latter issues come with the 5th tire. I e-mailed them and got a fairly quick response.humm gonna have to check out the hogan one..didnt think they had 106's back that far..does the kit have plastic or rubber tires..and an engine with it if you know?

I think there was a construction article in the FSM "Modelling the Second World War" IIRC.
I'll check when I get home.

On a related side note, I saw a 1/24 Hasegawa WWII Jeep at my LHS yesterday. Might need to have my connection open it up so I can take a look!

The engine should be OD green with black components like the rubber hoses and spark plug wires. Also the radiator is black. I've got a neat little book I picked up at my local Target titled Jeep, by MBI Publishing. It's got a couple of engine shots of the old WW2 era Jeeps.
