Looking in my manual of the Eduard detail set for the Italeri Schwimmwagen in 1/35, I find a awkward instruction. Looking at the photograph this part is not a straight 9mm piece of rod as the Eduard manual says, but something else. Not straight at all at least. Can anybody tell me what it is? Are there better pictures of it around? This is as close as I can get.

Looks like a MG gun mount to me, similar to the one on the front (on the passenger side) :

Here a close up of the mount base :

I'm looking at some of my pictures and think it's part of the exhaust?

Hi Frenchy!

You are promoted to chief searcher on Armorama! I have looked on the internet too, but I didn't find these pictures. Thanks!

Hi Roy!

It seems to be an MG post indeed. But the top construction on my photograph is quite different then on the pictures or Frenchy. It seems both are valid, but what is common?

Hi Dave,

How did you manage to show the photo? I uploaded the photo to the 'my photo' section and copied the link into my topic. What did I do wrong?

Looks like the post and bracket, notice the tripod also in Frenchy's photo.
I think your photo is showing the same type of mount, except yours has the actual swivel for the MG attached as the front one does, not just the post. You can make out the tripod legs, etc in your photo.

Frenchy has already received a Hero of The Hobby with oak leaf clusters, swords and diamonds, LOL!

I've never seen him stumped yet.

I think it's a cup holder for the gunner.

Hi Dave,

Do you know what the purpose of this tripod is? It could be a nice feature to add to the car?

Hi Jan-Kees

The tripod appears to be the one (minus the swivel) used with the MG 34/MG 42 in the "Anti Aircraft" role :

Hi Frenchy,

Seems to be a nice feature this tripod to scratchbuild onto the model. Do you have any idea on the dimensions (height of the poles)?

Got no dimensions for you, but maybe you could "guesstimate" the length using this picture (from Flickr) and your Schwimmwagen :

Full-size

You can find close-ups of tripods variants here : http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=381177

Oh dear how awful ! ! ! !
I'll be a ghost and some can not read what I write?
Not understand my language?
It will be another problem?
This is the 2nd thread in which the same thing happens to me today!.
A politically correct greeting.

Note: I just look in a mirror and see my reflection in it.

Hi Juan,

With building onto the model I mean, as Frenchy understood perfectly, put it onto the model as the picture he provided shows.

Hi Juan

I think part of the problem is it appears you are possibly using some form of translation software for your posting on Armorama. Certainly sometimes it can become difficult to understand what you are saying or meaning.

If you are using software maybe try this. Take one of your posts and translate it into English. Now take that translation and ask the software to translate it into your language. Compare what the software translated back to what you originally said. Is it the same? You can get very strange results sometimes.

regards

Alan
