Hello dear sirs!

I am a novice modeller but with a big wishes to learn modelling skills
I bought a Dragon model 6231 British Sherman Mk. III Sicily and began to assemble it. As a reference guide i decided to use ArmorPhotogallery 11 but
it is something that i cannot understand in the model. The picture must show the trouble. I glued together suspension parts and try to fit it with hull. There are very big gap and step between hull and transmission cover. How it could be on the real tank?
Also can i assemble this type of Sherman tank mainly from the box or i need any correction parts here?
And another question is about glueing and painting wheels and suspension. Please give me the advice about order in which i must paint and assemble it.
Thank you very much!

Sincerely,
Aleksey.

In real life that peice would have extended beyond further back. There are bolts that run from top to bottom to secure the housing. You should be able to just fill the back side with something to hide the gap. When you put the upper and lower hulls together is there a slight gap at the top of the trans cover and the glacis of the upper hull? You just need to make sure that the whole assembly is straight up and down.......

As far as painting goes I build the entire lower hull except for the tracks and then paint the whole thing making sure not to glue the wheels. I ve also painted just the bogies then put them on the model.

Thank you for the answer Chris! So as you said i must to create bolt heads in the place where transmission part connects hull part. Are the bolt heads hexagonal or round here?

Aleksey,

Here is a Tasca Sherman I'm building, that shows the step between the transmission and the hull side. It also shows the row of bolt heads. There are eight bolts with hexagonal heads, but these are small enough in 1:35 scale that slices of round plastic rod can be used instead.

Hope this helps!

I did small update and glued back part to hull. Also i glued the suspension holder. I tried to center it to the hull part (upper black arrow) and got a gap (lawer
arrow). Was i right to glue this in such manner? May be i glue it too law....

No, that looks fine. There isn't a very tight fit here, but that is hidden when the suspension is installed.
