Hi everyone!
Being a modern armor builder, I'm going to give a try to german WWII stuff....
I'm thinking on one of the Dragon's Panther G kits, since I like the "round" exhausts of this version. Maybe then I will go for a Tiger I and a Kingtiger Porsche.... maybe.
What kit do you suggest as a choice? The Panther G with zimmerit, or the Panther G Late?
Where should they be deployed for a "late" vehicle? BOTB, Pomerania, Normandy?
Thanks!!!

If you like the later style round mufflers, you go with the late Panther G, with no zimmerit. Therefor you need to install the later raised up fan-cover for the most of the vehicles.

Opeartion areas maybe defence of german territory,Battle of the Bulge / Ardennes for example.

Hi

If I had to choose only one kit to buy of the Panther G Late then my choice would be this one. It's the best depiction of a Panther G late on the market at this current time. It may be a little hard to find in stock and you don't have to model it with the last station steel wheel. Vitually everything in the box you'll need and if you choose the Battle of the Bulge as your timeframe, no Zimmerit required as this was long discontinued.

What Dragon are best at doing.....

Thanks guys!!
Another question : side skirts, anti-aircraft armor for turret and grilles, yes or no for those period or scenarios (BOTB, Ardennes, etc.)??

Agree. I just built this kit and it was a dream to build, almost tamiya-like but with much beter detail. You will not be disapointed in this kit.

Personally I am a fan of the Steel Wheeled Versions. The wheels are a bit smaller and as a result the Panther sits lower and looks a bit meaner to me. All SWP had the round flame suppressing exhausts I believe and they had the early gun mantlet without the chin. Although they were produced before the raised crew heater, some of them were retrofitted.

They were sent all over the place. There was at least one in the Ardennes and several in Hungary. One of them definately made it all the way back to the Seelow Heights just outside Berlin.

Regarding IR, extra armour etc you are moving into speculative territory. As far as I am aware the photos of the Panther with IR gear was not a production vehicle. I am not sure if they were fitted with side skirts.

Dragon do a highly rated Steel Wheeled version...

IMHO the Panther was THE tank of WWII and the father of modern armour.

My bad... apparently the SWP had twin pipe exhausts with sheet metal covers and not the flame protector versions. Although they are again likely to be retrofitted.
