Hello everyone,
I am building Italeri's 1/35 SdKfz 232 and I was wondering if 232s were used in Poland during the 1944 Warsaw uprising. I seem to recall seeing a picture of Polish resistance fighter in German uniform sitting on top of one of these vehicles.
If they were used would they have been in the original German gray or would they have been repainted in the dark yellow or camouflage color scheme?
I know that some rear echelon vehicles weren't repainted. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Considering the time-frame of the uprising and the fact that the paint scheme change had been in effect for well over a year and the colors were readily available in the field, it's a pretty far stretch IMHO for it to still have been in the original panzer gray. Even units that were engaged with partisans or in use with the police battalions followed the standard orders for paint schemes. The only cases I know of where vehicles retained their panzer gray scheme were some of those used in the driving schools for training. HTH.

Thanks for the info Bill. I think I will do a plain dark yellow scheme. Have a great one.

In issue #33 of Armor Models (euro modelismo) there is a side profile of a dark yellow painted Sd.Kfz 231 (6 Rad) , if that helps. Not so much with the Panzer Grey.

Thanks Anthony,
I'm building the Italeri SdKfz 232 6 rad radio version. I'm going to paint it dark yellow. I plan on getting the Peddinghaus #1050 decal set "Number plates for Polizei and Waffen SS vehicles" and make it a vehicle that served in Warsaw during the Home Army Uprising. I've already built an Sd Kfz 251 Ausf. D with Polish markings (from a DML decal set) that represents one of the halftracks captured by the Poles during the Uprising. The courage of the men and women who took on the German army with VERY little help from anyone else just fascinates me. It also seems like interesting subject matter to model. The Poles captured several German vehicles including a Panther tank, a Hetzer and an Italian tank.
Thanks again for the info.
