Thanks for posting. Looks very nice. Never built a Great Wall Hobby kit before but that one looks like a winner.

If this one goes together as well as the K44, it's going to be a blast:
Rheinmetall Borsig 12.8cm K44/L55
I hope to get my copy soon!
Cheers,
Guido

Must have missed that BLOg. Nice work. sounds like a great kit and sounds like I should try a GWH kit soon.
I really like your hi and low-light painting too. that is exactly what I am experimenting with at the moment.

Hi
If it turns out as well as the other one, it'll be stunning.
Regarding this release, did the real thing see actual service or did the war end before it could make it to the battlefield?

Not 100% sure, Alan, (and someone can correct me) but I think this is the same as the other...Meaning that they never saw action. These were, as far as I know, only prototypes. Two were built, one by Rheinmetall (first release by GW) and one by Krupp (this upcoming release).

Thanks mate! Always trying to put up a good show!
It seems that both the Borsig and the Krupp weapon - as shown in the kits - never made it beyond the testing range.
The Krupp gun was built 51 times, while the Borsig gun was built 81/83 times (sources differ).
Both guns saw action, but only being converted to either fit captured Frensh and/or Russian mountings and carriages. War production shortages and demands did not allow the guns to be deployed as planned. Photographic documentation of conversions to Frensh/Russian mountings and carriage are still missing. Obviously that's why there aren't any kits to be had.
Neither gun was historically significant, but man, they sure do look their part.
Cheers,
Guido
