Hi everybody,
I'd like to make this set of Dragon
Dragon - German Grenadier Last Battle, Austria 1944

What would be the best shade of green to replicate the reed green uniforms of the German at the end of war?
Using as an example tamiya, vallejo or Humbrol, what shoud I use?
Regards

Those figures are wearing the M44 wool uniform. As such the color varied from standard greenish field gray to brownish gray to olive gray. I can't advise you as to the best model colors to use but think in terms of gray with a dull tone of brown or olive green and you won't be too far off the mark.

Reed Green, by the way, is generally a color associated with cotton herringbone twill uniforms. It was a variable shade but might best be described as field gray with a bit more blue in it.

Best regards,

Testors Olive Drab is an almost perfect match. Vary as you wish, German uniforms had many manufacturers. Sorry, can't remember what the Humbrol colour would be, but there are comparison charts out there.

Hi

as Ron indicated the set you have shown doesn't have the Reed Green uniforms you asked about the colour of. To illustrate the point about colours of the uniforms varying see below.

Hi Alan,
All tips are welcome thanks.
I guess the two figures from right represent very well this variety. The last with antitank weapon seems to use a more greenish uniform and the second a more brownish gray, perhaps close to the Testor Olive Drab(like Kelvin said).
Thank you

Not to jump in too late Alves but as far a Vallejo colors go. I like to use combinations of german field grey 70830 ; Russian uniform 70924 ;US olive drab 70889: and olive grey 70888. Then you can mix in bits of other greens to the shade you like. Try green grey 70886 to lighten up or German uniform 70920 to green them up.

Hi

If you are using Vallejo and want some suggested colours you could look here. Couple of Field Greys in there with shadow and highlight suggestions and plenty of others. Worth printing out or at least bookmarking the page for future reference.
