Is the 3-7 cavaly regiment ? Are they subordonated to a brigade and a division?
I have sometimes problems to know the whole organisation
There sometimes brigades or even regemients that are independent and aren t attached to a division

For Euro_Pro
3-7 Cav is the divisional recon squadron for the 3rd Infantry Div. Divisional cav is usually assigned to the 4th brigade (aviation Brigade) of a heavy division although they can be attached out or work directly for division. I'm pretty sure their unit bumper cade would be
3-3-7Cav or something similar. What I'm looking for is the big number that you see on the sides of the vehicles that identify units from a distance. For example 3-69 Armor used 30 for HQ Co, 31 for A co, etc.

Ok I see what you mean ,,,well it is a reall tough thing to find that out.
Just one question does the 3-7 CAv as it belongs to the 3rd brigade then have the 3ID patch on its shoulder?
To what division belongs the 3 ACR ? because the ACR guys have their own shoulder patch that one of the regiment and not of a division,,I thought they were attached to a division too and therefor have the Division patch on their shoulder of the DCU.
Why don t soldiersi n IRAq have the V CORPS shoulderpatch and only the general has??
TO what division is assigned the 18th military brigade? as it has it s own patch too and not that one of a division

The 3rd ACR is the only true heavy ACR and as such is tasked with the rapid deployment forces so it is trained to be independent. Therefore it is attached directly to III corps. At least this is how I understand it.

3-7 Cav wears the 3rd Inf Div patch. Divisions always wear their own patch, no matter what corps they are assigned (really it's attached) to. The only people who wear the corps patch are those non-divisional units like corps artillery and support units assigned directly to the corps. I know its confusing. Generally, a soldier wears the patch of the lowest level unit he is in that is authorized its own patch. This can be a seperate brigade, a cavalry regiment, a division or a corps or an army hq. Hope this helps.

ACRs are a Corps asset but wear their own unique patch. 3-7 Cav (3rd Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment) is a divisional asset and wears the division patch. The 3-7 designation is more historical than actual. The 7th Cav as a regiment doesn't truly exist. The different squadrons and battalions of the 7th Cavalry don't form up into their own unit formation and really don't even interact with one another.Ok I see what you mean ,,,well it is a reall tough thing to find that out.

The other two 7th Cav units are the 1st Squadron (1st Cavalry's Divisional Cav Sdn) and 2nd Battalion (an infantry battalion in the 1st Cavalry's 3rd Bde).
The only units that would wear the V Corps patch would be those assigned to the HQ and HHC.
