hi all
finally i have an excuse to build a Tiger 1 and after picking one up at the IPMS nationals this weekend, I would appreciate any help, I am assuming from the box art that this tiger should have Zimm coating on it and i also believe that it is a cross between a mid and late tiger rather than a straight late
it will be this one
so help or additional information would be much appreciated
cheers
Keith

Hey Keith!
... Very nice choice of kit, I'm sure there are going to be plenty of helpers stood on the rear deck of this one! Looking forwards to the 'box breaking' ceremony!
Cheers Phil...

Hello Keith!
Jolly good choice on Panzer VI. Barky & I pontificated a wee while ago about which Dragon Tiger 1 kit was the 'best'. I reckon this is it as it has absolutely squillions of spares and is very versatile. The only thing it doesn't have is a 40mm turret roof, but what it does have is the 25mm turret roof for a mid-Tiger 1 or an early version of a late-Tiger 1, currently only available in this kit or the Wittman 007 Befehlswagen Cyber Hobby White box release. It is a shame that the turret ring guard is moulded in situ - if it was an add on it would make the kit perfect for a late Mid as long as you could source some rubber-tyred road wheels.
This Tiger would fit an early March 1944 production as it has the 25mm turret roof, binocular mantlet AND a turret ring, so a bit of a transition Tiger, but it is most definitely a late in my opinion. The real thorny question is - when did a Tiger become a late? Was it the introduction of the steel wheels, the turret ring guard, or the 40mm roof; the small muzzle break or even the monocular sight on the mantlet? I do hope somebody can enlighten me...
Anyhoo - best of luck with this one - how will you do the Zimmerit? Will you add PE? If so - which set?

And.....where would you get a travel lock?
Tamiya's Mid kit comes with two, but they don't look very accurate.
