Hi all,
I'm in the early stages of diorama planning and will be focusing on an A27 Cromwell in Normandy just before Operation Goodwood, July 1944.
My main reason for this tank and setting is a strange attachment I formed to a British soldier of the 1st Royal Tank Regiment of the 7th Armoured Division who died the day before Goodwood was launched.
Through a discussion I had with my girlfriend, I got to wondering what the lowest rank a commanding officer in a British tank could be. Now I have no clue where I'd even begin to look for an answer anywhere else, so I wondered if any of you guys might know?
The answer would link into my project directly as I'd like to portray the man on or in the tank in his correct place.

The lowest ranked commissioned officer to command a tank would be a Second Lieutenant. A tank can also be commanded by a Corporal or a Sergeant. Hope this helps you.

Nice one. Cheers for putting that question to rest!
