Hi Gusy,

Anyone have an idea of what the marking on a Canadian Tilly would be for one belonging to the 14th Tank Regiment?

I'm OK on the WD number and red/white/red door markings but interested in the AOS and Divisional Signage?

Thanks

Check http://www.armouredacorn.com. It has AOS & 1 CATB markings for The Calgary Regiment for the Dieppe raid and later when they were part of 1 CAB in Sicily & Italy

Thanks Rick, I had looked there and completely missed the 1CATB sign, that's sorted then - Thanks.

Alan,

Are you sure we hade Tilies? Have you got a phtoo of a 14th Arm'd Reg't example? I know there were Tillies in some units, but I'm pretty sure they were not on teh proper War establishment. Canada generally used different vehicles for the liaison role that the Tilly fulfilled in the Brit Army, mostly Jeeps.

Hi Paul,

Early war period jeeps weren't around. I have a picture of a Tilly 1 CAR AOS 156 around 1942. Page 32 of Tilly Colours, so they did have them and the time period is right for the pre Dieppe Churchill I built.

I was thinking I'd add a LAD or REME one.

So build away lol, lol. I think jeeps started appearing in England around 43/44 so anything before that was most probably a Tilly Could be wrong on the jeep date but that's best I can remember.

Al

While I have no knowledge of whether Canadian Forces ever used Tillies, I have yet to see a pic of a softskin with red/white/red (or white/red/white) markings. Make sure you have a pic before you paint!

Hi Chris,

It's a small R/W/R marking on the drivers door inside what is probably a red diamond above the WD number. First time I've seen one too.
