I've read several times lately in different publications that USMC uniforms during WWI were a "forest green". I've never seen any pictures of this era, so was wondering if anyone knows of an acrylic color that most closely matches the Marine 'forest green". Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Tom, I read somewhere--- senile mind can't remember where--- that Pershing didn't like the Marines wearing their "forest green" uniforms that they arrived with, as he felt it was too close to the "German Field-gray" uniform color, and was too easily mistaken for it, especially in the distance. When they started to wear out, he issued the Marines with standard "OD" Army uniforms as he refused to clog the supply system up with two set of different uniforms.
You might start with a normal or your favorite German field gray color and adjust from there.

Thanks, Dave. I think you're right on this one. I remember reading that somewhere, too. Really appreciate your response.
