I just came across the blog of figure painter Sang-Eon Lee, although its all in Korean (google translate doesnt really handle this language very well) its well worth checking out for his exquisite work and a constant source of inspiration:

Hi Rob.
Thanks for sharing that information about the blog. I can't read Korean, but the pictures certainly prove that the author certainly is a master figure painter.
Awesome figures indeed.
Cheers.

Hi Rob
You wouldn't by any chance have been visiting the planetfigure site and saw the posting of the two new Alpine figures he's just completed
http://www.planetfigure.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37274
Nice big images. Sometimes it takes holding one of the Alpine figures and studying under magnification, (as I have to with these old peepers) to realise just the level of detail in something so small. Enlarged on the screen we may think its great, but only when you have one in your hand and see its actual size do you fully appreciate the skill of these guys, both in sculpting and painting.
Got to admit as soon as I saw them I looked and found his blog as well. Outstanding work, and that little bit of info from Taesung in the thread to say two more are due for announcement this weekend sounds very interesting.
All the best
Alan

I hadnt actually seen that news on PF, I found the blog initially whilst browsing the Korean site MMZone.
I totally agree with what you say as well about the skill of these guys. When you hold an Alpine head in your hands and begin to try and paint it, it becomes immediately apparent how incredibly skilled this guys (and others) are. I only hope that with many years of practice and effort I can eventually produce something like his work....I can dream!

Hi
Yes another outstanding figure painter. Although I can't read the text I do see 1/16th so I guess the WIP is as you say one of the other bits of news.
At first I thought it was 1/35 and I was thinking how the hell does he do the eyes that detailed that small !! Taking nothing away from it though being 1/16th, still amazing and like you I hope one day to be a third as good as these guys.

Thanks for all the links guys. I did have some of them in my bookmarks, but I saved some new ones. BTW, I always have problems locating MMZone blog of the guy working on modern Legend and D-Toys figures... Rob, I'm sure you have those links as well, can you help out?
Cheers,
Mario

Man... you guys are really digging around.
FYI,
the 1/35 figures were sculpted by yours truly.
Painted by Sang Eon Lee.
The 1/16 figure was done by Yukio Honma.
Painted by Man Jin Kim.
There will be a limited edition 4 figure set
this Christmas season. (only 200 sets,
individually numbered, signed, stamped)

Ive seen these and have all of these book marked. I'm working hard at trying to get anything close to what they have achieved but I'm going no where fast.
Taesung can you tell us what's down the pipe line as for 1:35 figures?
I'd really love to see some more of your modern work, maybe British or Aussie figures?

In 2011, I'm planning to concentrate on AFV crews
instead of infantries as far as 1/35 scale goes.
I'll try to cover some Allied subjects like Russian,
US, and Brit AFV crews.
In 1/35 scale, resin figures are considered as
"aftermarket" items to AFV kits, and the subject is
usually decided according to the release trend of
the big companies. So modern Brit or Aussie figures
are not the best choices for me.
I usually try to cover subjects that are not suitable in
1/35 through my 1/16 scale lineup.
