Hello there, almost finished my 3rd diorama, and was wondering, other then a diorama, what do you actually call these things ?
So, as you do, I thought I'd place a double question and see if people are not to busy to leave their comment.
The first diorama I call ''Germans at rest'' in fact this is a very well armed machine gun fox hole, an old old path leading through brightly coloured bushes and plants and directly into the fire of a machine gun.

The 2nd diorama I call ''The old tree stump'' for whatever reason a number of German soildiers have began to gather around this old stump, I guess it could have been called almost anything.
tree stump 003
tree stump 006
tree stump 009
And lastly the 3rd diorama that I'll post a bit later on, I call this ''The Walk'' quite simply this is showing German soilders walking through a field and doing very little else, actually it looks quite good by doing very little.
In the mean time, any comments good or bad.

"The Walk" and "The Old Tree Stump", sound pretty good but Germans at rest is the title for some German figures sets can't remember the makers. Titles are important, they set the mood and story for the scene........ .......Al

While I was waiting for this to dry, I thought I'd have a muck about and build this one.

No need to guess the size/scale of these tanks.

Yes Alfred, I can agree with what you're saying, and naming your diorama can be quite important, ''German's at rest'' maybe I'll change that to ''Killing Time'' as basically this team are awaiting any luckless person walking along the dirt track path.

nice vignettes with lots to catch the eye. the naming of a diorama may seem secondary but can be an additional insight into the scene and yet another creative avenue for the builder. i have looked at dioramas and then read the title and then seen some hidden/subtle detail that added a new appreciation to the piece. i am pretty impressed by the originality people can exhibit from the titles they come up with. cheers, bd.

Yo Alec,

One of the first things I do when I have a diorama in my mind is to find a nice suitable title for it. Story and a title is everything for a diorama or vignette work...

Germans at rest is to easy...the walk and the tree stump are mutch beter.

you could ask the question to your self how it come that the germans are at rest...I have a little vignette that is almost to same as yours( check my blog)...germans also eating bread around a campfire in a AA 20MM flak ditch in winter ...ok, also here, germans at rest...but I asked myself the question, why are they at rest...so I came with the title..."Frozen sky". No work for the soldiers, because its snowing, no planes in the sky's....so they can enjoy there bread....

That's my way to name a diorama or vignette.
