I was looking for a reasonably priced conversion kit to do an old gas burner M-48. We had 5 of them at VMI and I kind of wanted to model my first tank camand "King" I did my M60a1 "Bearded Clam". I looked around the web for a kit. I found Hobby fan listed at $115. WHEW!!!!! I saw one from a Chesapeake Model Designs but can't sem to find a place to get more info. Got a feeling this is OOP. So if anyone knows of a resonably priced kit or how to kitbash a Tamiya 48a3 with something else, it would be appreciated.

SUPER !!! I checked Lucky Model and they also have the Hobbyfan version. It's $80. So which is better. Is the HObbyfan version really great or are they close. Both have freee shipping so a difference of $12.50 is the choice

I have neither kit. However I do have many conversions from both and my vote would be Legend. I feel Legend's molds are sharper and I've never gotten any bad pieces from them.

Just my $.02 worth. Good luck with your choice.

If the Legends M48A1 is anything like the their M48A2 conversion it is nothing but junk. Too narrow and too short to fit on the Tamiya lower hull. Plus the turret is under sized. The best early M48 conversion is the CMD M48. It does not take much to convert a M48 to a M48A1. It is only $50 or $60 and it is made in the U.S..
