Hello happy Holidays, I'm pushing some humbrol super enamel through a Badger 200g. Now, I've thinned properly and at first I get some fine bubble in the cup and then that stops. Paint does come through, however I'm constantly adjusting the needle. Old paint? does Humbrol need a stir. Air pressure is 19 psi.
Thanks, John.

Someone else had exactly the same problem with Humbrol paint and use with an airbrush. He believed it was fault with the airbrush but after switching to Tamiya paint it is working like a dream, and so I would suggest Humbrol have done something to their paint or it has been sitting a long time and the pigments have stuck together.
Air appearing in the cup does suggest to me your airbrush needs a good clean.

Thanks Darren, I'll give the Badger a Bath and stick to using Humbrol for Hand and dry brushing. The shop I purchased my Collection of Humbrol is a bit Dusty.

Hi
If you are getting bubbles in the cup it might also be worth checking the seal behind the head.
As also said it might be better trying a better quality of paint, Humbrol is no longer as good as it once was.

I only use Humbrol thinner when airbrushing Humbrol paints. Since complete mixing is needed, I use little disposable plastic cups to mix and thin, then pour into airbrush cup. Bubbles in your cup is an indication of a blockage at the tip. (you are back flushing to air back to the cup)

Hi Dave, my Humbrol AB process is similar to yours, I used humbrol thinner first and then mineral spirits from Lowes during a second session. Similar results.

I regularly use Humbrol for airbrushing, Enamel, Super Enamel I even have some old Authentic paints. I have never seen this. However you have to stir Humbrol paints well and I mean well - sometimes I shake a bottle I haven't used for a while for as long as 20 minutes. Warming up the paint may help or filtering it with a scrap pantyhose also.
The air bubbles are definitely a sign of back flushing. If this does not appear with other paints, that means your AB is reasonably clean and pigments clog the nozzle.
Humbrol paint is actually very good for airbrushing and if you solve this problem you will get very satisfactory results. I use 99,5% pure lacquer thinner with this paint which is basically its factory thinner.
