Hi guys,
I justed wanted to share my last work. Have not started with the paint work yet, but the construction is completed.
The anti-skid surface was done with the GamesWorkshop Roughcoat spray. I masked the needed areas with a tape and maskol and gave 3-4 light oversprays. I was my first anti-skid attempt, but I must say I am satisfied with the result.
The vehicle should represent one of those used in Iraq in 2004-2005 with the additional armour plates. As a reference, pictures on primeportal.net helped me a lot.
Any comment will be highly appreciated.
Best regards
Jiri

Jiri,
Looks very nice. Did you lower the suspension? Out of the box the Academy model sits too high.
Regards.
Neil

Hi Neil,
thank you for the nice comment. The suspension has not been reworked. I read a few reviews on the kit saying it should be done, but when I compared the kit with real photos I found out the whole lower hull is incorrect. Only the wheels/suspension would not fix the problem
Also, when I compared the kit with 1/35 drawings in Concord publication there was a discrepancy, but definately not in the vehicle´s height. But this was the only drawing I have, so might be incorrect anyway
I am more upset about not lowering the front wheels a little bit. It was only after the suspension had been fixed when I discovered the vehicle is lowered in front when not moving. But I still might change this.
The whole project was meant to be OOB so I did not want to go for larger updates and conversions. What I´ve done are only small bits and pretty easy.
Ciao
Jiri

Nice work.
The anti-skid surface is cool.
This GamesWorkshop Roughcoat spray looks like to Rust Oleum product.

Hi everyone,
until now I didn´t realized the discussion was opened again. I quitted the work some year ago due to other projects on the table so since the last posting here I only managed to cover it with Surfacer. However, thank you for your kind comments and for sure I´ll keep you updated when the work continues.
To answer the questions:
It´s actually only the RB barrel and the Eduard´s PE set which was used. All the other items are made from scratch using Evergreen profiles and other pieces of plastic
The lower skirt is made of the clear folia normally used to cover the hard copies of presentations. You easily get it in any stationery store and it costs nothing.
Sincerely
Jiri
