just picked up the dragon panther 2 kit today and was wondering 2 things,
1st of all should I build it is it a collectors item now? its the imperial range kit no 9008
2 if so could I kit bash the turret to a tamiya late g hull as it looks more accurate
By the looks of it the kit has a lot of shared parts with italeri's ausf A
cheers mike

Of course you should built it! That's what models are for.
Actually that kit is currently available from the Shanghai Dragon line as a re-release.

Hey Mike;
I have the Panther II. What parts do you think it shares with Italeri?? The hull, top and bottom, is different; the running gear is different and the turret is different. What's left?
Anyway, if you want a Panther II, you can't stick the turret on an Ausf G hull. Count the axles on the Panther II. If you just want some what-might-have-been panzer, then have at it.

I would advise getting the AA Schmalturn kit and also you will need to rework the rear engine deck to accomodate the correct radiator fans.
The SD kit is really only good for the chassis. If you can get the "Achtung Panzer" Panther book,look in there for the correct configuration.If not get in touch and i will try and help out.

Rats Hawkeye, ya beat me to it...
umm.. what he said..
Fix the engine deck and get an AA turret.
The various panther bibles have different info on tracks and sprockets, but if you're going to make a paper panther.. what's it matter.
I built one OOTB when my wife was very pregnant -read as going to sleep at 7pm.- nice kit. Not too accurate, but no huge hassles to build.
