Hi, the best way to paint: Friul tracks, MCD (Missile Countermeasure Device) on M1A1 and wooden parts of German WW2 Tanks' tools.

I got suggestions on two:
Friul tracks: I basecoat in Tamiya XF-64,then heavy enamel wash of burnt umber+black,I also dust with Mig products Track Brown Pigment +plus some other dust or earth colors. Then use sandpaper to sand of the paint on the high points revealing some bare metals. Also some guys use a chemical called Blacken-it that chemically ages the metal tracks.
Wooden parts:I like Modelmaster Acrylic Wood paint, then a brown wash over this to vary the color
Hope this helps you
