It depends on the set. Some of the early soviet ones were to put it mildly - rubbish. The current issues are quite good. Read the reviews here

Yes the insurgents are by masterbox and they are awesome the marines not so much they are good for early iraq but not for the camo and gear they are depicted in on the box art.

If we're talking about the Iraq 2 set then Alan is correct.
If I understand correctly what Pat is saying is that Miniart's figures have become more refined and their consistency in quality has given us a line of pretty decent figures from their newer offerings.

Hello Franck,
I would say that Miniart figures are maybe less original than Masterbox, but the details are crispier, the heads are very good (unlike Masterbox) and the fitting is perfect. Their russian sailors, soviet jeep crew or soviet infantry marching for examples are really top notch.
Best,
JUlien

Hi Frank
Go to the Miniart web site. You've got a catalogue tab and a gallery tab. These both lead to images of kits available along with painted examples by clicking on the various tabs.
For the last few years their stuff has been very good. Only the very old figures are grim. I got 35002 SOVIET INFANTRY ON THE MARCH and they are terrible. Got on ebay and I wouldn't dream of selling them on to disappoint another poor soul. Didn't put me off though. I have about a dozen various sets now.
As I say check out the web.
Under "Catalogue" on the left you then go to the tab with the tank on. WW2 Military Miniatures.
For the gallery again click on the left, this time "Gallery" and along the top of page options choose the same WW2 Military Minatures.

As it is obviously an excruciatingly painful process for some to link to anything on Armorama, here's all the Reviews which we've published of MiniArt products over the years:

If you bothered to read the thread you'd seen that Pat had already linked to the reviews page in post two, and he managed to do it without descending into any nasty little remarks as well.

Jim- as if I would reply to a thread about Miniart without linking to reviews on this site.
Anyway I've been talking to Frank by PM about the sets he has his eye on and he's looking for Soviet figures suitable for a Battle of Berlin Setting.
In my opinion these two sets Soviet Infantry at Rest and Soviet Infantry On The March aren't good at all without an awful lot of work.
There is some debate about wheteher these sets were reworked recently so I would recommend opening the box before purchasing them. I actually used two of the marchiung figures in my Battle of Berlin Dio but I changed the heads, hands, equipment and weapons
Better to use 35044 SOVIET INFANTRY (Summer 1943-45)- unfortunately there's no review for these but take my word for it they are really sharp. Also 35028 SOVIET GUN CREW AT REST again no review. I have both these sets and when I get time I'll review them both.

Hi Pat and Frank
Given what you've said about the scene you wish to depict maybe it might be better to focus on manufacturers that create figures fitting that time frame/location rather than just Miniart.
I believe ICM have a few in their range, which was also released under the Alanger brand, so that's one worth checking out. I've a couple of their sets and they seem a good standard.
Of course you do have a fair amount in resin to choose from especially Tank branded figures, but the cost may be an issue.
Won't post any links
