So I went from a scratch built LAV III to a destroyed and rusty LAV III. I had seen many tanks being modelled as damaged or completely destroyed and was curious to see how a LAV III would look, since I have not seen any modelled before. So here are some pics of a scratch built LAV III that I built and now, I have turned it into a Completely destroyed and rotten down vehicle. You can see what it looked like before and after.

I get that you are trying to practice techniques, and the effect on the tires is really well done (how did you do that?)
I think though, that any fire hot enough to burn the green paint off, would also melt the plastic bottle on the antenna, and burn that green thing in the turret basket.
What's the story behind the vehicle - ie, that big hole, it's too big for an RPG, and AFAIK, IED don't make holes in the side. Is it meants to depict an air strike to take out a vehicle that could not be recovered?
Good on you for having the guts to tear apart your scratchbuilt LAV-III, that is quite a decision to make!

Tires as well.
Looks great though, the moment is captured well, hatches open stuff strewn about makes it feel like it was a hectic situation.
Regards.

I simply took my Dremel and grinding tool and grinded away the rubber.

The bottle will be removed. A for the tarp in the back; it was meant to depict that it was added afterwards. More of a dump-it-whereever..kind of thing.

I actually took that idea from a pic of a LAV III that had pretty much the same hole at the same area on the LAV III

IT took a while to decide on it but once I started cutting at it, it was no turning back

I agree but I just couldn't resist adding them just for the shredded look of them.

It looks good overall. The techniques of rusting and charring look great. In addition to what has already been mentioned, I only see one other issue. The emptyness of the interior is very apparent. For instance, in the below pic, you can see straight through and out the other side.
Some of the internal structures would melt down, but there would still be walls, the engine, and lots of ash and debris on the inside. You would not be able to see through it.
Other than that detail, its a great effort.

Thanks for the constructive criticism. God point. Never thought of that. Oh well. Thanks again.

Your a sick man Charles. Sick. Talented ! No doubt of that, but sick!
Great job on the rusting and burning. I took a while to look at the tires to make sure they weren't really radials!

:-):-):-) yeah Shane. One would have to be crazy to break up a scratch build model, but i guess one. Would have to for the sake of improvement...

I assumed it should not be there or is it the way it is bent? Please forgive me. I have not seen many pics of any destroyed LAV III. I've been trying but it is hard.

Probably because we were expressly forbidden from taking photos of destroyed / damaged vehicles. Insurgents can use them to gauge whether their IED packed too much or too little explosives. And, the guys who normally take the pics of our kit overseas, probably held back given that there is often human remains on or nearby the vehicle.

All the issues I seem to have have already been stated. So...great work. I don't think I could ever burn down a scratch-build. Too much pride in the finished kit. Very well done.

Thanks Matt. Since these pics were taken I have removed the antenna, water bottle and the rear tires. I left them there just for pure aesthetics reason. I wanted to show off the tires but did not know how to make it look valid next to the wreckage I understand those tires are heavy but let's assume they were put up there by a hydraulic lift.

Charles
The antenna would still be straight up , still with that much damage. Nice work on the wheels, looks like the real deal when hit and the tire shredds.
