Hey, first post!
Anyway, I'm already finished with my Tamiya 1/35 SU-122 kit and now all that's left to do is paint it with my brand new Aztek A270 airbrush. Just wondering, were there any "different" and/or intricate detail/insignia designs that were used in the war?

Not too much. Soviet crews would scrawl messages on the sides, such as "For Stalin" or "for the Motherland", but they were basically painted Soviet Green (and there's about a thousand threads on just what color THAT really is). The Russians just wanted to crank them out and get them blowing holes in Germans as fast as possible, so there wasn't too much creativity.
The Germans were far more creative in their color variations.

Jasper,
I hope this may help a little (except the last one - it is JSU-152):
Most of such slogans were usually painted not by crews but by workers on factories before tanks were shipped to the front.

I really like the one with the tree designs on it... I think I'll paint mine like that!
