G'day team,
I'm trying to find a clear photo of the breach of the M2 .50 cal.
Basically, feed cover open, feed tray up and looking into the breach.
I have a mountain of other shots (and memory) but I just don't have this one.
Long story short, I want to make a .50 cal that you can look straight thou and see day light at the bottom end.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers Jason

With the 50 cal feed cover open there is nothing to really see. There is a feed block right or left feed yes they can go both ways and the stripper arm. If you pull the jacking handle back you will see daylight but only until you let it go and slam the round home, therefore closing the breech hence you have to have good head space and timing or the weapon will not work. Depending on where the ammo is on the weapon you may have to pull the jacking handle twice once to move the round to the loading position and the next pull loads the round into the chamber. So if you lift the cover you see only a block of steel. If you pull the handle to load a round then you will see the daylight you are refering to. Other than that all the weapons i have used for defence where always loaded, so you dont see anything except for the ammo hanging out of it. Hope this helps and if i can clear anything else up lmk

Cheers Mike,
Rito,
I have done a bit more work on the gun and have now decided to do the 50 as a striped down weapon. Meaning, barrel, barrel extension group, barrel buffer group, bolt, back plate with spade grips, hollow body etc will all be cast separately. I may even go as far as doing the head space and timing gauge. Thoughts?
Cheers Jason

Jason,
I found these via a web search and thought you might find these helpful:
TM9-1005-213-10, OPERATOR’S MANUAL MACHINE GUNS, CALIBER .50; BROWNING, M2, HEAVY BARREL
M2 .50 Cal HB Headspace & Timing
Especially this one, which shows the interior parts better:
ARMY TM 9-1005-213-23, UNIT AND DIRECT SUPPORT MAINTENANCE MANUAL MACHINE GUNS, CALIBER .50; BROWNING, M2, HEAVY BARREL
Just trying to help...

What scale? Tripod or vehicle mount?

What, an issue one or a 3" Screwdriver pinched from the Spanners? You might want to add an engineers hammer and a spray bottle of CLP.....
Cheers

now Al us black hats would never steal a 3" from a spanner (borrow for a long time but never steal)
Jas. the only way you would see al the way thru a .50 cal was if the gun was in make safe (thumpiece disengaged and bolt locked to the rear)
but i may have some photos of what you are looking for i will have a hunt for you mate

G'day Team,
Sorry about the late reply.
I would like to thank you all for the help you have given me especially Jeff. The pdf's have been a great help. The bolt group has been very challenging to say the least.
Paul, 1/35th mate, and just the 50. No mount or anything. I don't know if I will go into production with it as yet.
I have spent a few days on it and at last count there are 11 parts already. 12 if you include the 3 inch screw driver I "found" in the CES of my ASLAV F kit.
From what I can see (and in scale) the only difference between the older 50's and the QCB version is the barrel change handle.
Well off to finish a few other parts.
Cheers Jason
PS Mark, Thanks for the photo's mate. I will send you an email back shortly.

Your right Jas.
No real difference from the M2HB and the QCB. Only external differences are the handle on the barrel and the safety switch/latch on the back plate next to the buffer disc assembly.
Cheers, John
