Like with most HELLER kit's it is a big challenge to get things right.
But check Olivier Carneau website for many useful tips !

Dave,
It depends on how 'high' your requirement is.
The kit contains:
1) An Azimut made AMX30B2 resin upgrade set:
i)It is the original resin set with EXTRA bits(not included when it was released under the Azimut label),such as a new driver hatch(nice),a cupola ring and most importantly,a new vehicle rear plate which is a must for the B2 upgrade.
2)A new PE sheet with a nice engine grill/mesh;
3)A pair of 'softer' track set.
The abovementioned stuff would make the Heller kit better BUT ...if you want a decent AMX30B2,a lot of scratch building would be needed, still.
Please PM me if you need more info.

Very interesting work: http://olivier.carneau.free.fr/ , but in Russian language Al' Capone is written: "АЛЬ КАПОНЕ" (there is not the third letter)

Notice that Friul was looking for informations about old and new AMX 30 tracks.
It will solve the main problem of the Heller's kit.

You're right Stephane. In the meantime, Heller announced they will release new link by link sets of tracks for the AMX30 family !

Couldn't find the announcement on their website. Are they doing the old and current track versions? Are these workable, or just link to link? Idly wondering if Heller just acquired the old Gum-Ka molds for the old tracks (Gum-Ka in Japan did one very short production run of these styrene tracks, the old chevron type, but never reissued them).

Gerald,
the info came through an Heller offical to French modeling forums. They also unveiled their 2011 program which includes a VAB TOP and a VBCI just to name a few. (Other "novelties" include battleships, race cars, aircraft and so on. Some being reboxing, some true new models)
Concerning the tracks, I can't tell if they are workable or just link by link. As soon as I know, I'll post the info. But it seems that they are not a simple reboxing of Gum-Ka tracks according to a French poster whose wife is a member of Heller staff.

Thnaks for the info Olivier, i just knew the VBCI future release.

I don't put a lot of hope in Heller usually for accuracy and detailling but i 'll be happy to change my mind.
