As the topic suggests i'm trying to narrow down what timeframe I can use Dragon's "world elite force series" Israeli Paratroopers in.
I'm new to the IDF and am wondering how varied their uniforms and equipment were over the years.
Ideally i'd like to create a 6 day war figure from whats available but i'm guessing it's not quite that simple. I'm not scared of quite serious conversions to styrene figures so please let me know whats involved or if I have to go on to the Yom Kippur war?
Many thanks,
James

Hi James
The Dragon set is suitable for 80's areas. So to be use for 82's war in Lebanon and after.
With new weapons (M16 derivatives), the set could be use for 90's.
For 1973, the IDF used differents flak jacket from memory, likes those used by US. Weapons were differents too (FAL, UZI...) and most units used what looks a M1 american helmet with a camo net.
The figures are crude but with new heads and extra detailling it could do the job.
Hope this help
Stéphane

That figure set came out in 1990, and was based on contemporary photos.

Thanks guys, looks like they'll stay in the box for a while yet, and i'll have to have a re-think.
DML pairing them with their orange box super sherman would seem like a bad move then!
Cheers,
James

Technically the Super Sherman in the CH orange box was used up until the Israeli actions in Lebanon in 1982 so those paratroopers would be ok albeit at the extreme tail end of the Super Sherman's service life. I remember picking up that figure set in the early 1990s. Rough molds and that crappy yellow plastic.

Agreed, there would be a minor overlap.
I picked these up recently and must say that DMl seem to have cleaned up their molds as I have figures from the 'world elite force' range in the original glossy yellow plastic (which are full of flash) and DML's more regular grey plastic and these seem to be a lot cleaner. Unless the orange plastic came later?
Anyway thanks again for all the help!
