Ural 4320 P18 Radar conversion SPOONREST

This model won me a gold medal at telford smw 2010

This model started out as the revell 1:35 Ural kit, i used the chassie and cab from the kit and scratch built the rest from styrene sheet, rod, strip and tube.the wheels were made from my own molds out of resin.

The array is made from styrene tube with a brass bar inserted down the center,

The aerials are etch brass that i had made in scotland the support cables are from carbon fiber rod.

The model was painted with humbrol m117 green then the camo was airbrushed on freehand 1st linen then 2nd black over the top of the green.

This was then colourwashed and then drybrushed with lightened shades of the original colours. i then slightly weathered it.

The final finish was a coat of humbrol matt cote

lots more pictures of this truck on my web page

There is a full build blog on http://www.modelarmour.com/ for anone interested

Hi Roy, this is a wonderful build - absolutely fantastic. I saw one of these at the Finland Air Defence Museum recently. I too am going to make this conversion. Would youi be willing to offer a photo-etch of the antennas for sale?

Best regards

WOW!! That whole aerial assembly... WOW! Did I say WOW already?

I also like the fact that you don't do excessive weathering

Roy, how many channels does it get?

That etch must have taken some time to sort out. A real stunner.

Simply beautiful! The antenna array would've driven me crazy if it was a kit! I can't imagine scratching it! You have shown us the difference between a "kit builder" and a "modeler"!

Pat
its not quite as big as it looks its approx 20" wide.
the array comes off on its rotation pin and it goes in a box 22"x5"x5" and the truck goes in a bannana box with all the other models..
its actually easier to store and transport around to shows than the mazz transporter.
