Hi,
I found this picture in the 2009 RAIDS magazine. Immediatly I wanted to build a diorama based on a damaged VAB.
Here are the first building steps :
Painting session :
And the first element of weathering :
To follow :
-the rest of the weathering
-the diorama
Cheers

salut eagle

hello eagle
good choice of vehicle for this diorama, painting is very realistic and I hate to see the result because I have seen this topic addressed by another designer.
It is gratifying to see this on the Afganistan because there is not much done yet!
Good luck in your project

Hi,
Thanks to both of you for your comments
I know that the VAB on the picture is not an infantry one but an engineer one. I don't have the expertise to make all the changes needed to look like the picture. So I decided to make a damaged VAB based on this story of IED attack but with different characters on the dio.
Here are some more pictures of this VAB :
Next Step to come soon.
Cheers,
Eagle

Hi,
Now that I've finished the VAB, here are the figurines that will bring life to the dio. A lot of work was done to have something respectable to presente.
The figuines comes form ICM 1/35 :
Let's see the pictures :
To follow :
- the base

Hi,
Final step to be accomplish : the diorama itself
with flash :
without flash :
The first in situation test :
As said in the begining I want to create a damaged VAB based on the original picture, so let's see how it looks with the figurines included :
To follow :
- glue the different element on the base (VAB / figs)
- dio dusting to link all elements together (dio / VAB / figs)
All comments are welcome
Cheers,
Eric

Hi,
Some of you have warned me that I should be puuting French soldiers instead of Talibans around the vehicule.
So here are the 3 soldiers (still be bit of work to do) :
I aslo took a few picture of the new look and shape of the dio :
Again more to go before I close this folder

Really like this build Eric well done!! very inspirational photo indeed.
The Heller Vab is not even a very good kit to work with but have done a great job with building it!
This is just a brilliant dio, but maybe you could weather the Vab even more, you can barely see the camo pattern in that 1st real photo, it would blend in even better with your amazing base too!
..maybe a little blast effect on the vehicle too, black sut, some blast damage and fresh over turned soil? Dont mind me , I loose the run of myself sometimes
keep up the fantastic work Eric, I'll be following this!

Your base and vehicle almost look real. Well done. On the figures, the whites of their eyes are too big. Unless they are still in shock, you may want to make them smaller.
