Just a quick question on the Jagdpanther.
I'm building Tamiya's kit, and I'm not sure how to paint the flame dampers on the late-model exhausts - by mixing cool air into the exhaust gases, did they stay cool enough themselves to remain painted, or did it all burn off and rust like a normal exhaust pipe?
Reference drawings are contradictory, and I haven't found any photo evidence one way or the other.
Any help greatly appreciated
Tim

Hi. Haven't really seen to many actual war-time photos of this vehicle, or any Panther with this type of coverings over the exhausts, but I would say that being in such a close proximity to the hot pipes and gases and flames coming out of them, that these items would have to rust up pretty quickly, depending on how much the vehicle has been run. So I would say that you could rust them up as much as you would like and be pretty well correct, historically speaking.
Take care, sgirty
