Greetings,
I recently started using Vallejo acrylics. In my current build, I painted a water container with Model Air and then glossed it with Future. I now noticed that it developed cracks that look like spider webs. This was with a brand new bottle of Future and other pieces that were painted with Tamiya acrylics and glossed with the same container of Future appear fine. I am suspecting that there might be a compability problem between Vallejo and Future. BTW, several days had lapsed before the gloss coat so the Vallejo should have had plenty of time to dry. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem?
Thanks in advance and Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!

Many years ago, I had the same problem with Future over Tamiya acrylics. I think it's the chance one takes using a product in a way it was not intended.

Hi Charles,
Since I'm starting to use Vallejo's more and more myself, I'm interested in how or why this happened, too.
Could you share how you applied the Future? Was it by brush, dipping, or airbrush? Did you apply the Future straight or thinned? And if thinned, what did you use for a thinner and what was the ratio?
Also, the same questions with the Vallejo paint.
Thanks,
Mike

I've never had that sort of cracking reaction with Future over any paints, neither with brush or airbrush application.
But what I've read from magazines and online discussions, the culprit could be either the underlying paint or the future.
If the underlying paint is still in the process of curing when the Future is applied, it can cause the quickly hardened surface of the Future coat to crack. Applying too many coats of Future within a short period of time could also cause cracks.
Several days of drying times seems plenty enough drying time to me. Did the cracking occur after several coats of Future?

Greetings,
Thanks to everyone for their imput. I am hoping that this was just a fluke because I have been very happy with all the Vallejo products.
Mike, I sprayed the Future with my airbrush. I normally do not thin it when I spray. Also, the color coat was Model Air and so far, I have had really good results spraying the color right from the bottle.
I am working on a couple more small pieces, this time I used MM acrylic gloss for the gloss coat. We will see what happens.
I will keep you posted.
