I am nearing completion of my Leopard 2. It is based on a tank I saw during the summer of 2008 in Afghanistan.
I am looking for help on where the put the sun umbrella on the leopard. If I recall, the crew can adjust the shape of the umbrella because the support veins move (in order to fold it up when not in use I guess) but does anyone know the exact shape. I've made my trial parasol 6-sided.
Any other criticisms are welcome, it's still in progress (I haven't added the antennas or camouflage on the barrel yet)
Thanks

Hi! Very nice work!
How did you procede for the camouflage? Did you use Echelon's camouflage netting? I did buy it and I'm going to try painting it to give it a little more texture.
Still, very nice! Cant' wait to see it completed.

Nice work. I just received the Perfect Scale Modelbau Barracuda resin update. It comes with the umbrella but no instructions. I was able to get the basic location from looking at the built-up model they have on their website (the picture with the folded umbrella has the best view). If instructions do exist for my set and I can get my hands on them, I will let you know what they say. Here is the site:

I used the Echelon camouflage decals as well. Neat product, but takes a bit of practice to get the right effect.
Before applying them, I put down a layer of foil and painted it beige to simulate the matting the to which the barracuda cam is attached on the tank itself. I still need to apply some dullcoat to the tank as right now the cam decals are a bit shiny, but I will wait until it is closer to being finished before doing that.

I dug out the PSM turret. The location of the umbrella is pre-drilled. In fact, there is some sort of retracting mechanism down the center of the turret (front to back). I will try to get pictures and post them when I put the kids to bed, if that's OK

That retracting mechanism is actually the mount.

The umbrella mount on the PSM conversion is pretty good but not totally accurate. It should be about 3 mm longer towards the front of the turret and the umbrella post should be about 3 mm farther forward. Fixable issues.

Hi Trevor,
Nice build.I have my second Leo ready to build and don't want to use a resin hull or turret. The Echelon netting looks to be a perfect answer. My question is,did you order it and if you did from where?

I got the barracuda decals from this place in Singapore http://home.pacific.net.sg/~kriegsketten/
Pretty fast service. I used two sheets of the tan/beige and one sheet of the brown.
They're not too bad to work with, although it does take some practice and I ruined quite a bit of it in my initial attempts. The trick when applying it is to cut the decal larger than you need for the area you want to cover. This will enable you to push and pull it while wet in order to achieve a "3D" effect.

Hi Guy's,
I just recieved my Echelon decals and was wondering if anyone had any updates on using for Barracuda?Any photos?
Always better to get some good advice before making bad mistakes.
