Great thread guys, and I can tell you that things are actually in the works in 1:1 scale. We had a testbed Stryker here at Ft Sill last month, and there has been a lot of interest in my 1:1 LAV-AD.
For giggles I started my own Stryker-AD build using the AFV Club MGS hull and the Trumpeter LAV-AD turret. I removed one missile box and have added Sidewinder rails, since the SHORAD-M concept requires a 15k engagement range.
I'll see about getting some pics of the Stryker MSL and my Stryker-AD up later.

I look forward to seeing both this build completed and what you have built, Jon. Perhaps you can bring that to the OKC show.
Cheers,
James

James,
I'll bring it with me, but it won't be display ready. I've got the basic vehicle in primer now and I'm working the sidewinder rails onto the right side missile box mount.

Sounds cool Jon and was one of the options I had considered but I thought this just looked meatier and sufficiently different yo a LAV-AD. Looking forward to seeing your pics

Sorry for the delay in updating this build. It's all built now just needs weathering and lights , mirrors, tools and some stowage added
Really pleased with how it looks. To me at least the proportions look "right" if you know what I mean.
The tires have yet to go on. I might fill them with plaster and then have the back ones bulged more so it cuts lower at the rear if I can manage it.

Finally finished the Stryker ADV. Apologies for not keeping the build log up to date but with the PB woes and finding Flikr troublesome I've been posting more in the FB group than the forum recently. I shall rectify that going forward. Anyway, here we are, all done at last.
AFV Club M1128 hull with Ledgends A DATE conversion mounted on it. Painted with Mr Hobby Olive Drab and weathered with various washes, filters and pigments from AK, Mig and Tamiya

Thanks for watching folks.
And Jeff, the Vulcan would look great also on a Stryker hull. Go for it!

Strangely enough, General Dynamics Land systems just unveiled a type of anti air.anti armor variant. Its armed with hellfires and sidewinders....... http://scout.com/military/warrior/Article/General-Dynamics-Land-Systems-Unveils-New-Hellfire-Missile-Firin-105894682
They are also working on a 30mm chain gun turret

Awesome work !! Your Stryker definitely looks like it was a feasible variant, and funny because I thought my original idea was purely fiction . Looks like the climate nowdays would certainly benefit from exactly this type system.
I've been gathering parts for the Vulcan variant for fun..wish I'd kept the 163 Vulcan yrs ago lol
