First off, Happy New Year all.

I know that with all the talent out there this question will get answered.
I have a bottle of Mr. Surface 500 that is starting to thicken up.
What can I do to stop/fix this problem (where I'm from this is hard stuff to come by).

Thanks for any help in this matter.

Lacquer thinner works just fine. A little goes a long way, add a small amount at a time. When you close up the bottle, make sure that the rim is clean and the plastic insert is sealing well. It won't eliminate the drying out, but it will slow it down.

Hi Roy, happy new year

I don't know for sure, but in my opinion you can try to add to the putty Acetone or isopropyl alcohol 90° . Otherwise you can add Tamiya LACQUER thinner (NB NOT ACRYLIC thinner, LACQUER thinner) or Gunze mr color thinner. This one:

All those products can solve the putty so this way you can dilute it.Usually I use tamiya lacquer thinner and I've ever had any problem.
But to be honest i don't know if adding the thinner in the bottle can change the putty behaviour. I think you'll have a more diluted putty, but it doesn't mean necessarily that the putty won't work anymore

cheers
