I mainly do it in 1/72, but I pretty much do what the first tutorial says...

The colors I use for ACU's are (vallejo) Green Grey, Stone Grey, Deck Tan. It makes the more olive/green-ish 'flavor' of ACU vs the grey/blue-ish 'flavor'

And then the end result.

Here's two other useful links for ACU's.

Why bother, a lot of units there are showing up with MultiCam uniforms. It would be much easier to paint than the old UCP pattern on ACUs.

After seval trials and errors...I have settled with this for marine digital. Bluff Tan..medium grey and nato brown with some lighter brown thrown in. I start with prime..then pain the med. grey. After it dries I take the deck tan and start making small tetris (the game from nintendo back in the day) designs. Then I go back with the brown since the Marine is a little different than Army. I trace some of the shapes with the brown. I'll take a pic soon to show, but so, all the pics I have gathered is that the middle shade (grey) usually looks khaki to smokeish in color when in combat. Khaki i've tried and just can't get the ride shade of it, so I found the medium grey in the tayamia paints. I think other's call it coyote, but whatever, it hasa worked for me.

So hard to keep up with it all........For the longest time the uniform for all services except Seabees , who eventually adapted it, was the green woodland camo. pattern. Since the original dessert war for Kuwait, the uniforms seem to change over and over again. All you have to do is go to a military exchange on a large base and you will see so many different uniform patterns that it makes one wonder about wasteful military spending. Seems that no service is on the same page anymore when it comes to uniforms. What the correct color is can be anybody's guess....................Al

Legend, Alpine, and Verlinden all make ACU-clad Soldiers as well.

HobbyFan and NATO in Miniatures as well... check out Historicus Forma for reviews of several ACU resin figures.
