Hey guys. Just finished my KV-1 for the Killer KV campaign. It was my first attempt at modeling mud. Hope it looks OK.
Comments are welcome as always

Nice job Jeremy, congrats
Did you use pigment to depict the mud?
it seems to me a very convincing effect
Did you use dry pigments also to render the rust?
What color did you use for russian green? Acrylics or enamels?
I'd like to know something about the kit because me too i have it in my stash.
In my box the decals are totally out of center and i won't use it (also because i prefere to reproduce a more "anonimous" exemplar)
There's anything that needs to pay particular attention? Any issue?Anything to putty and sand it?
Thanks a lot in advance. Sorry for the too long list of question and congrats again
cheers

No worries with the questions Mauro.
I used Mr surfacer 500 (thinned) and woodland scenics harvest grass cut into little pieces with woodland scenics fine dirt mixed in. I then stippled the miture in prior to painting it. After I painted the base coat using MM russian armor green (enamel) I thewn used russian earth and europe dust mig powders to get the final effect. For the exhaust it was mig rust and a little of black smoke. I thought the kit built very well. Just a little filler due to warpage on the upper hull peices other than that went pretty quick!! let me know if you need more questions answered or more elaboration on how i did what. never had anyone ask me how i did stuff before.

Very nice, Jeremy! Just right mud amount (for some reason people usually overdo that mud effect).
BTW, for future reference - rear light on soviet tanks of that period wasn't all red. Top was blue, bottom - red:

Alex, probably you can't believe me...but is the same and the first thing that i thought when i saw this model. Me too i don't know why many people "asphalt" the tracks with mud... It does hardly ever seem a realistic effect. Sometimes it seems that a real tank could be stuck with all that amount of ground on the wheels. Furthermore, this way all the lower hull details are "drowned" and hard to see

Hi Jeremy...really nice job on the mud (nicely restrained, some people go with too much mud) and on the construction and finishing in general. Couple of points to note, but I'll post them when I haven't just gotten off a plane after 30 hours of travel
Cheers,
Neil
