was wondering how this compares against the Tamiya release. Has anyone got it yet?

Hi,
in direct comparison with the Tamiya kit, Hobby releases is a really loser.
Low points are the bad detail on many small parts like the smokegrnade launchers, also the anti-slip patches on the hull, which are on the real vehicle thin like sandpaper, are on the HB kit in the thickness of a door mat!
I can only recommend the Tamiya kit.

Hans-Hermann is right on target !
If you have the extra cash buy the TAMIYA Leo, if you improve the Anti-Slip surface on the turret, replace the handles with wire, some minor PE addtions like the tool-clamps .... and you have the best kit around
Alternative sideskirts and/or smoke- launchers from PSM for instance, and you can build any current A5/A6 version in service.
Cheers

Thank you! I was tempted by the low price, but I think I'll get a Tamiya then.

If you want better detailing than in the HobbyBoss kit but in the same time a lower price than Tamiya then the Revell kit could be the thing you're looking for. Tracks and details are way better than HobbyBoss but it has one disadvantage: the main gun is not movable. Don't know if it's possible to make it movable and how to do it...
