I have seen pic's of Pz IV H's with the air cleaners on the right side and I have seen pic's of H's without the air cleaner.....is one early and one late or did some units take the cleaners off

The early H's had the air cleaner installed - however the hull skirts caused the dust kicked up from the tracks to foul them really fast, so they were deleted on later production H's. You could get by with them on or off - but if you leave them on, you'd want to do an early production vehicle. Even these early vehicles often had them removed by the crew once the filters clogged - so you could even do a very early H without using the filters.

Well, I got something out of it, planning a H build eventually and it'll probably be a late so must remember to skip the air filters on kit if there are any
