Very cool, would make for an interesting build. The weapon system is a ZPU-1 14.5mm AA gun. Would make for a different build next to the many different HMMWV out there. Great find Frenchy!

That color of green looks more like that used on Afghan National Police vehicles. Seems very enterprising either way.

Its actually a KPV 14.5 mm HMG....... much different cooling jacket.
That green is horrid - I can't imagine it has alot of camo value unless its in a field of poppies

Talk about an Up-Gun
Not really, it is the Russian equivalent to the US M2 .50 cal, which is 12.7mm.

The DShK, NSV, and Kord machine guns are in the same category as the .50 caliber M2. I would put the 14.5mm KPV and similar weapons in another category. The weapons that fire it generally have muzzle velocity and muzzle energy comparable to the lower range of 20mm cannons.

That's actually an Afghan National Police HMMWV, not ANA. When my district got their two 114's they also got a DShK with it. The gun was covered in rust and I volunteered to teach them how to use the HMWMV if they taught me to use the DShK. Went down with my terp and went over the basics and how to use and stow the BII of the thing. The problem was, MOI (Ministry Of Interior) gave them a DShK but no mount for it. There was a cradle, but now way to mount it to the American gun mount. I told them a way to mount it, but it required some simple steel fabrication, that being cutting a round hole in two square pieces of steel. Simple right, well not in Afghanistan apparently. They went to the market and had the local welder fab it up and it was ragged as all hell and in no way round so the bolt wouldn't go through it.
One of them whom we named Slick Rick due to him always trying to sell us boose and coke tried using a PKM pintle from one of their Rangers. That was not gonna work so I showed them by pushing on it to simulate recoil that it wouldnt work and it sheered the pintle in half pulling the gun and me with it backwards into the turret. Well than fix it, the way I told them, with some file work, they said they would figure it out.
I give you... the results of that...

Probably, then again most of the incidents I saw involving ANA/ANP HMMWV's and Terry, there wasn't much left of the gun truck to run from.
