Hi all. I was in Hannants in Hendon on Saturday, picked up the ICM Ford and a couple of books. While chatting with the guys there, the relative price of the Ford & the Cyber Hobby Opel came up, and they said the Opel is around £80 because it contains TWO trucks. Is this correct? If so it makes me more inclined to pick it up, £40 each is a lot better than £80 for a 1/35th truck (although still more than the ICM Ford & Zvesda Mercs, and a lot more than an Italaeri or Tamiya Opel, though obviously a much better/more modern kit).

Hi Steve.

News to me. In all reports and reviews I've read no mention of two trucks inside the box, although I did read someone spotted two cab roofs in sprue shots.

Best way to buy this if you want it is from Ctberhobby direct, any other way and your paying for all the hands it passes through to get to their selling point, bearing in mind that these kits are not discounted to the trade like other ones. So they (the trade) pay the same from Cyberhobby as you and I do.

Hi

Me again

Here is a link to the page selling at Cyberhobby

http://www.cyber-hobby.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=8985

Asking 312 Hong Kong Dollars which according to XE.com at todays rate equals
£25.84. You've got to cost in postage on top, but even so that's not going to be much.

So at £80 who's jacking the price up. I don't think it's Hannants, they are just putting their standard mark up on what they have to pay.

Hobbyeasy has it on preorder for around 36 Sterling (Including shipping).. so, that 80 sterling is way too much. Unless there's another box that does have two trucks in it

Hi'

I have the Cyber Hobby kit and believe me it has only one truck . I paid $39.99 US plus shipping from Dragon on pre-order. Since it is limited production I did not mind Dragon's full price. The kit is beautifully detailed, can't wait to build it but am waiting to see if there is gong to be any aftermarket stuff to follow. I need stowage at this point, any suggestions?

Thanks for the link Alan. I looked it up & it was now 3200 yen/$39.99 which is what £20? I've no idea what the postage is from China, but I think it's still going to work out quite expensive for what it is, even £36 post included seems a lot for a 1/35th truck kit (but not as much as £80, that's just barking). Also I'm a bit wary dealing with someone on the other side of the world (yeah I know that makes me a Luddite). However it would seem to me that the cost of the tooling would dictate that they market the kit or some version of it more widely, so perhaps I'll build the ICM Ford while I wait for it to appear.
Alan, you're right someone is definitely getting a rake-off somewhere, there is a heck of a difference between $39.99 & £80! However the UK does seem to pay a lot more for everything than anyone else, e.g. it is much cheaper to buy a British built car or motorcycle on the Continent than in the UK. A work colleague got a friend who was a serviceman in BAOR to buy a Triumph for him and saved nearly £2000!

Speaking of the price of a truck kit and the ICM Ford. I went to two local Hobby stores this past weekend and that kit was $55.00+ U.S. Thats crazy. I too got my CH Blitz from Dragon U.S.A. for $39.99. Shipping was free as I ordered a few other thing along with it. I will say that it is a beautiful kit in the box. The detail is first rate. As for fit, I couldn't tell you. I would like to get that ICM Ford but I am not paying 55.00 dollars for it. I will not pay more than 30.00 for it and even that is pushing it so I may never get one. I have a feeling though that sales of that kit are not going to be that good at that price and we may see some "Fire Sales" before long.
