Hi,

Was in my local model shop browsing the sale stuff - not much interesting at first but then I spotted the Dragon PaK 40 at a bargain price and bought it on impulse.

http://www.dragon-models.com/html/6433-reviews-cookie.htm

Opening the box I at once realised why it was so heavy (heavier than a Tamiya Cromwell kit in box) - it's absolutely packed.

I've never had a kit with so many options

3 types of wheel
2 types of tyre
2 types of barrel
3 types of muzzle brake
2 types of gunsight
2 types of gun shield

Plenty of optional positions for parts.

The downside is the instructions delegate all responsibility to the builder. There is no indication why you would chhose one part of the other and more importantly no indiaction on which set of options go together to make a genuine replica.

I'm guessing it is down to theatre and era but I've no idea at all.

It would be so easier to build something that never existed.

Any advice?

Any good website reference on PaK 40s?

Cheers,

Nigel

Hi Nigel!

Just found this page with some detailed pictures of the PAK 40.
http://www.panzer-modell.de/referenz/in_detail/pak40/pak40.htm
The text says that it's a later version.
Pictures were taken in the danish artilliry museum in Varde.

Hope this helps you a little.

Regards!

You might consider a couple of books to help you with it:
Waffen-Arsenal Sonderband №54 Die 7,5cm Panzerjaegerkanone 40 (in Germ.)

and
Armor PhotoGallery №18 German 7,5 Cm Anti-Tank Gun Pak-40

You can easy find them online to download. If not - let me know in PM. I have dig. copies (first one is not of the best quality though...)
