Hi all.

Just completed the White Eagle Campaign (thanks again, Paul!!).

This will be a real short build log of my Trumpy Centauro Bi uno.

I got this kit from my best friend for Christmas (much appreciated, my man!) and started right away.
He joined our illustrious society a few days ago btw- Oh Captain, My Captain - finally. Been bugging him for ages.

So, this for and courtesy of my friend El Capitan aka middlefrankonian:

More pics tomorrow.
Thanks for watching.

Good night.

Morning guys.

Just noticed the pics are much too dark. Still don't have proper lighting I'm shooting with a TTL-flash. Sorry for that.

Here's a few more:

Assembly was a breeze. Just replaced the grabhandles with selfmade ones, switched the mirror stems for brass (the Centauros seldomly run arround with the mirrors attached when abroad, it seems).

For colours see you in few, got to go backk to work.

Hi leo

A very good work so far.

I like a lot the cleanness

Are you going to depict an italian or a spanish Centauro?

Mauro, benvenuto!

''I like a lot the cleanness''

Mille grazie! I try to make an effort of building clean. It's all I got, shure don't know a helluva lot about tanks, I'm afraid...

''Are you going to depict an italian or a spanish Centauro?''

Well, what do you think? Don't got the flag in my header but I dang well got the 'cuore sportivo'

As for colouors: I doused the whole thing with window cleaner and after drying sprayed a basecoat of Vallejo Verde Scuro MA12. This is a first for me as I allways apply Tamiya Primer beforehand but I want to test the sturdyness of Vallejo paints.
For shading and highlights the base paint was mixed with black a.e. yellow.
Some pannels got a treatment with Verde USA MA16.

I managed to detail paint and apply the decals by now. Hope to take some pics later on.

Thanks for watching!

Very nice Leo, I've wanted to build one of these since they came out
Looks like the kit went together without any real problems?

Looks great!

I found the PE on this to be very soft and impossible to get a sharp bend. You seem to have got the light guards OK . What about the little grille in front og the lights? Hard to tell from the pics but did you leave out PE parts 12 & 13 on the sides? I know I did!

Thanks, man!
Well, almost all of the kit is kind of easy to assemble if surpisingly complex.

Only thing that really bugged (and that i messed up) is the turret basket. The railings are kind of hard to fit. Just do yourself a favour and read a few pages onward before comitting glue to them.

Bent the ''round angles'' of the light guards over a toothpick with my finger. I'll put on the grilles afterwards when the headlights are painted and ''glassed''. Well, at least I intend to.
12 and 13 are the crew steps I assume. Yep I left them off, I frankly am not bright enough - I think - to understand how they are bent.

Hard edges? Just cram them in a hold and fold and fold them with a knife...

Did it work? Me too, i'm going to use just Valleyo paints as base coat for my next build, but i'm wondering if it would be an effective base coat

Leo, Is not a criticism, as i said i like a lot your build so far. However It seems to me that the green of real italian centauro is more "olive". But anyway, surely it depends on the pic quality.

I hope to see your next steps soon

Well, they're tough as nails. I even tried a little scratching and rubbing: no effect. But mind you: I really drenched the assembled model before painting with Sidolin windowcleaner for a few minutes which I think is esential.

Oh please, by all means, just tell me what you think, that's what we're here for. And yes, you 're right. I deliberately mixed the green a little more yellow and much too bright. Firstly, because I intend to use at least three coats of brownish filters for coulour deepness and secondly I always ALWAYS try like hell not to let my models get too dark as they sit in a cabinet in my hall where the lighting's not studio quality.

But finally: the colour balance on those pics is just cr#+*p!

Hope to get some pics done soon.

Ciao, grazie !

Well, i did the same.I drenched the model in a bath of water and dish soap . When it was dried, I passed on it a brush wet in a strong degreaser (Marsiglia chanteclair). After then i rinse it with water ....I think it's enough... I'm waiting to paint it

Yes, it's true, filters can change almost everything

Grazie a te, aspetto altre foto

ciao

Hello all,

I am very glad that this christmas present has already made just an impact here in the forum... I think I had the right idea with this tank, I liked its appearance from the very beginning. Besides, E.I. stuff is cool anyway!
@ Leo: Great work as always!!

Greetings,

Sebastian

Thanks, man.
You're right Esercito Italiano rules.
Anybody ever build an Iveco Torpedo roun here?

Well, this is after a few brown and gray filters shot in daylight:

It's a a little bit more olive now, I hope. What do you say?

Excellent start.
I just finished my build:

It's amazing how big this vehicle is compared to my other armour subjects. dwarfs some of my modern MBT's.
Looking forward to seeing your finished project.

Great pics of the real thing...thanks Mauro.
I see the wing mirrors are left off, but the are is there....
Also, how does the gun and shield point straight up but the ammo box stays down?
It is a big beast Dave. When I finish I'll take a pic with my M1128 MGS Stryker....quite a difference in size!

Hi Leo, hope you don't mind me using your thread to show off my just-completed Centauro. This thread has been a help...

Unfortunatly the wash was heavier than intended, but I left it anyway. Baskets were an issue and I left out a lot of the really small PE

Before weathering:

And after:
