I am trying to install cable conduit to the Stryker M1127 Smoke launchers, lights etc. I am having some difficulty routing the cable. I am using very fine fuse wire. Any one got any tips on how and what to use to create the cable. i should say i have the model complete. Maybe i should have install this whilst building these sections.

I have never used fuse wire but since there seems to be an issue with it I assume that it is too stiff and doesn't want to stay in the intended position?
If it is too stiff then you might try heating it over a candle (carefully), this ought to make it more pliable / make it less prone to snap back into its original shape.
Personally I would use the thin copper wire that can be found in thin / soft cables, like the cable for Walkman/MP3-player/earphones for mobile phones.
Another source is the coils in relays/solenoids in various electronic products.
These can also be softened by heating up and letting cool slowly.

Cheers Robin
Yes i tried fuse wire thinking it would be pliable and easy to manipulate. I will try some of the copper wire you suggested. i got some waste cable used for connecting TV's, its wrapped in a net of copper wire, seems softer. let you know how i get on.

Hi Paul

You can find tiny copper wire in any common electric cable

Some modeller who i know doesn't like copper wire because to glue them you need the CA glue which sometimes is not so useful

To avoid the Cyano glue and to allow instead the use of common plastic glue, they use the "old dear" stretched sprue...

cheers

Use .010", .015" or .022" soldering wire. It's easily bent and all you'll need is a dab of CA at each end to attach it; so, there isn't any question of making a mess of things.

If you have trouble finding soldering wire this fine, try looking for "fly tying" wire. This is lead wire used to make fishing lures, and you can find it at places like Dick's Sporting Goods, Cablelas, Sportman's Wearhouse, etc. The smallest that I've found is .010 and the next size up was .015. Very inexpensive for a spool.

Mike
