I developed a sudden obsession with Zeppelins. Can't really explain it. Anyway, assuming I can actually find a model of the USS Los Angeles (I hear Lindberg is coming out with a MASSIVE 1:245 kit--over 32" long!!), does anyone have any ideas as to how to achieve this scene?

All I can think of is basically suspending the model so the tower touches the ground or using a thin clear rod of some sort to prop it up from behind.

Thanks in advance!

it would be stunning...but hard to do...probably you should do a wire structure hidden in the baloon and then you have to connect it with the tower...

Here you can watch a video tutorial where a japanese modeller does an UH-60L Black Hawk on howering. The Black hawk appears floating but actually is standing on hidden wires:

Is a japanese tutorial, but is easy to understand (watching the images)

I hope it'll be useful for you to find an inspiration

cheers

You may also research how many tether lines they would drop and use a stiff wire as the lines to support the zepp.
