I am trying to finish a Russian BA-3 Armored car for the Barbarossa campaign. It is an Eastern Express kit and is really getting on my nerves. All of my modeling tools are still in transit from Hawaii and I am operating with a "skeleton crew". The kit is really bad. Full of flash and is taking forever to clean up. I can deal with that, but how do you guys fix poorly fitting doors and hatches. Even after the trimming there are inconsistent gaps in the fitment of doors and hatches. How would you correct this problem. Or should I just shelve it for now and do a something really simple like a motorcycle or something? Thanks!!

This may be beyond your "skeleton crew" of tools, but I'd try to equalize the door or hatch by sanding the surfaces flat for both the part and the opening. The add a shim of sheet stock of the appropriate thickness and sand smooth.

That is a great idea. I just need to decide wether it is worth it now for this particular kit. I bought it because it looked rather simple and with the limited time/tools I have available maybe I should switch to something that requires a little less attention. Thanks!!
